Private Screening Event Centered Around Social Justice, Action and Advocacy Hosted by The Akbar Pray Foundation for Change
Newark, NJ - On March 22, 2023, The Akbar Pray Foundation for Change hosted a private screening event of the powerful and thought-provoking documentary, "848: The Criminalization of America" at The Newark Museum of Art. This compelling project was produced by Sleepy Eye Productions and it’s visionary Thomas Freeman. The event was attended by a packed and engaged audience who were enlightened with the information on practices conducted by the United States government and justice system that they were never aware of.
The documentary featured efforts to bring to light the history and American involvement in the criminalization of so many of its citizens. It featured interviews from famed attorney Isaac Wright, Publisher Kevin Chiles, Attorney MiAngel Cody of the Decareration Collective, Freeway Rick Ross, Former Congressman Doug Collins, and heavily featured the story of Wayne Akbar Pray, the now 75-year-old convicted former drug kingpin and Anthony Stutson and other non-violent offenders who have spent incredibly lengthy and draconian sentences in federal prison.
The screening was a powerful call to action for those who care about social justice, action and advocacy. The Akbar Pray Foundation with Change is presently working with several community organizations to put on more screenings of this documentary. The foundation believes that education and awareness are key to bringing about change and creating a more just society.
"We are honored to have hosted this important event, and we are thrilled by the response we have received from the community," said spokesperson Jeff Brooks for The Akbar Pray Foundation for Change. "We believe that everyone should have access to this information, and we are working to make that a reality."
The Akbar Pray Foundation for Change is encouraging everyone to sign the petition in support of Anthony Stutson and other non-violent drug offenders serving life in prison at https://www.change.org/p/president-of-the-united-states-free-anthony-stutson-and-other-non-violent-drug-offenders-serving-life-in-prison
